Ducted and hideaway air conditioners

A ducted (hideaway) unit is installed out of sight in the ceiling or roof space and delivers air through ducts and grilles, so only the vents show. One unit can cool several rooms, which makes ducted systems popular for new builds, renovations and offices where looks matter.

Slim medium-static units suit narrow ceiling voids, while larger units with more fan pressure can push air further down longer duct runs. You will also need ducting, diffusers and grilles — see our installation materials.

Can one ducted aircon cool my whole house?

It can cool several rooms at once, but every room shares one thermostat unless you add zoning. For whole-home cooling, we size the unit on the combined area and plan the duct layout with your installer.

Is a ducted system more expensive to install?

Usually, because it needs ducting, grilles and more labour than a wall unit. Send your quote list with the number of rooms and we will quote the full installation.
